New Housing Legislation Offers $7,500 Stimulus to First-Time Homebuyers

Housing legislation passed by Congress and signed by the president may save 400,000 homeowners from foreclosure. At the same time, it offers a $15 billion carrot to first-time homebuyers in the form of interest-free loans worth up to $7,500. That provision is really a housing stimulus designed to bring buyers to the table for both new and existing homes, says Raymond James’ Director of Real Estate Research Paul Puryear. While many earlier said such legislation would never make it into law, the length of the continuing housing crisis has changed minds, he says in this edition of Professionally Speaking, hosted by Larry Pugliese.

For personalized advice on how the current housing situation in the United States may present investment opportunities, please contact a Raymond James financial advisor.
